Day 6 Zipaquira

Woke up this morning feeling pretty refreshed and got our washing done, had breaky, went out for a coffee with Sam who showed us around a bit and told us what we should check out while we're here and he told us to definitely see the salt cathedral so off we went. I was very confused once we got there as I assumed it would be a large cathedral and was told it was 200 metres underground but assumed it would just be a small underground section but no, the whole cathedral was 200m underground and completely made out of salt. It was made to honour the miners that mined for salt just underneath the cathedral. It was like nothing I've ever seen before. Our tour guide got us to taste the walls which were pure salt. Very unusual and amazing. Then headed back to our hotel and relaxed a bit then went out for pizza for dinner as it was the only food place open then off to a 3 storey club where we bought a bottle of rum for our table and finished that off and got to know a lot of locals who always insisted in giving us shots of the local liquor. Such friendly people. Off to bed at lock out with about 50-60 policemen waiting around making sure there was no trouble. Very bizarre.

What we thought to be a 20 tonne cross turned out to be an optical illusion that was cut out of the salt

 Such amazing carvings

Squeezing through the walls in the underground cathedral

10cm of water which is another optical illusion
